Church of S. Francesco

Counted among the "minor" buildings of the Valdelsa, it is a former church that comes closest to the stylistic models of the Pisan-Lucca Romanesque, despite having been promoted by local artists trained in Volterra. The building, which dates back to around the 1320s, was born as a Jerusalem hospital dedicated to St. John, only to become a church dedicated to St. Francis in 1553. It then housed a convent and was finally purchased by a private individual, who he left only the fa├žade intact.
