The torture museum

To fully understand medieval history, San Gimignano's Museo della Tortuna undoubtedly provides an idea of what life could have been like in ancient times. Actually, these are two small museums: the first, located at the entrance to the village, immediately after Porta San Giovanni, which exhibits a complete itinerary on torture methods from all over the world with instruments belonging to the 16th and 18th centuries and from disturbing names (with photos and detailed explanations); the second is located in Piazza della Cisterna, and focuses on the theme of the death penalty.
